Daniel J works on each guitar solo, as if it were a composition. He takes hours preparing and practissing until he is totally satisfied with each solo. He never leaves it to an improvising chance in the studio.

"Losing Time" is an album with a lot of power and intensity, but always with a sense of melody. The songs and lyrics speak about the things we all deal with in relationships, you will no doubt see some of yourself in these well crafted songs.

Daniel J had the opportunity to see a musical giant at his best while beeing present at Jordan Rudess's studio and watching Jordan recording some trully extraordinarry keyboards on the Daniel's songs. Jordan had this to say about Daniel:

"Daniel J is among the most talented musicians I have ever met. From the moment I first heard his music I knew that this was a young person that I wanted to not only support, but have involved in my own music! Now it's time for all of you to discover Daniel as well. Enjoy his music and his talent on this release and join me as we begin to follow the career of an outstanding musician."

Fans of Kings X and Dream Theater will certainly enjoy this album.

Is the name Daniel Jakubovic ringing a bell to you? No? What about Jordan Rudess?. Well, the keyboard maestro of the progressive rock miracle band DREAM THEATER, supports, by his participation and the inner notes, young Israeli origin, guitar player, singer, composer, Daniel J. He believes at him, his abilities and supports him, 110%. Is he right, or is he wrong? Listening to the album with the oxymoron title "Losing time", I have to agree with him. Daniel J, is a gifted guitar player, a very good singer and most of all a very interesting composer. He is clearly, on the progressive side of things, but at his music you can listen to influences, from such diverse artists such as Lenny Kravitz, KANSAS, LIVE, CREED all in a blend that makes you wanna listen to more...

For those of you who think ProgRock Records releases music that's not heavy enough, may I respectfully recommend Losing Time? That is the debut disc from Daniel J, the hotshot 23-year-old Israeli guitarist who takes his influences from Metallica, Dream Theater and Yes, and who appeared on Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess' last solo album, Rhythm of Time. Punchy and crunchy, Losing Time is a modern record that bridges progressive metal and hard rock with a variety of memorable and melodic songs that focus on relationships but come off as neither sappy nor cliché. Think Foo Fighters, Dream Theater and King's X all showing up at the same time in the same place for a groove-heavy album-long jam...

...Overall Opinion: Oh my god! This young man is so talented! I bet we will hear a lot more of this excellent musician in the future! Everyone who is into Prog metal, like Dream Theater or Pain Of Salvation SHOULD have this album in his or her CD collection! This is clearly an example of someone who has fallen in love with music and devoted his life to it. Also thumbs up to the recordings and the artwork. I really hope to see this musician in action one day!

...So I would say this album could appeal to progmetal-fans but also melodic hardrock-fans should dig this, and progrock-fans that don’t mind some heavy tunes can appreciate it as well. And if you go nuts on guitarmusic, well, there’s plenty of that as well on this album. For a debutalbum this is a very impressive piece of work so just check out the site from ProgRock Records and try to get a hold of this record.

...Daniel J plays guitars, drums, bass and keyboards as well as vocals on all or some of the 13 tracks on Losing Time The main influences you can hear are from Metallica, Dream Theater and Yes. He does wear those influences on his sleeve for the most part but I feel this album is primarily to showcase his talent.. In my honest opinion, most of the songs are very similar in style to the previously mentioned influences. That’s not a bad thing but there’s a ton of those types of bands already out there. I’m hoping on future releases that Daniel expands his musical pallette and maybe tone down in some areas so the music can do the talking...

...Going back to the musicians, Dream Theater's keyboardist Jordan Rudess helps out on keyboards on three tracks, and plays a solo on two of the three, but as Jordan says in the sleeve notes, Daniel is one of the most talented people he has ever met, and he worked with Jordan on his very own solo album. With the music, there is a strong influence of Dream Theater, combined with Metallica and splashes of modern airplay rock, but to pick out two tracks, seven and the closing one, they are the strongest ones in my opinion. Track seven All The Same For You is a nice gentle ballad, which could make a good single, and the sax brings extra life into it. Final track, Rush, well, if you have a spare ten minutes, you must hear this one for sure. The slow build up and Daniel's flowing vocals, the soft keys, and finally closing with the classic power riffs in the Dream Theater vein, complete with the solo keyboard break from Jordan is the icing on this cake no doubt. Rush is one of the best songs I have heard this year! To summarise it all, it is hard to believe that this is a debut album, it is well produced and performed, and worth every penny in anyone's currency, and it is a must for fans of Dream Theater and Metallica.

Discovered by Jordan Rudess, guitarist/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer Daniel J (Daniel Jakubovic) has been one of melodic rock’s best-kept secrets, until now. His music is a plethora of AOR, prog, and dark riving melodic metal present to infuse J’s music with pop melodies and catchy hooks, complimented by his guitar playing and overall musical skills, not to mention that his pal, Rudess makes an occasional appearance on this record...
